UK Charts: Lady Gaga stays at Number One

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' has clocked up a second week at Number One in the albums chart tonight (June 5).

Adele held onto the Number 2 and 3 spots with '21' and her 2008 debut '19', while The Pierces scored the highest new entry at Number 4 with 'You & I'.

Seasick Steve's new LP 'You Can't Teach An Old Dog New Tricks' went in at Number 6, while Status Quo's new studio album 'Quid Pro Quo' debuted at Number 10.

Further down the chart, Death Cab For Cutie's new album 'Codes & Keys' went in at Number 24 and Journey's 14th studio LP 'Eclipse' occupied the Number 33 slot.

In the singles chart, Pitbull (pictured right) spent a third week at Number One with 'Give Me Everything', his collaboration with Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer.

Italian DJ Alex Gaudino scored the highest new entry at Number 6 with 'What A Feeling', a track which features former Destiny's Child singer and new UK X Factor judge Kelly Rowland.

Aloe Blacc's 'I Need A Dollar' moved up to Number 2 after spending 12 weeks on the chart, while Rihanna's 'California King Bed' climbed from last week's Number 20 to this week's Number 8.

UK Charts: Lady GaGa Topples Adele from Number One Spot

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' has scored the biggest first week sales of the year so far to end Adele's reign at Number One in the albums chart tonight (May 29).

Gaga claimed the top spot after shifting over 215,000 copies of the album, which was more than the rest of the Top 10 combined, according to the Official Charts Company.

In a dominant week for the singer, her 2009 debut 'The Fame' re-entered the Top 10 at Number 7, while she scored three Top 20 singles - 'Judas' (Number 9), 'Born This Way' (Number 17) and 'The Edge Of Glory' (Number 18).

Adele's '21', which has spent 16 of the last 21 weeks at the top of the chart, went down to Number 2. The Tottenham soul singer's 2008 debut '19' stayed at Number 3.

Elsewhere, The Prodigy debuted at Number 5 with 'World's On Fire Live', while the latest Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons best-of compilation 'Working My Way Back To You Collection' went in at Number 12.

Pitbull held onto the top spot in the singles chart for a second week with 'Give Me Everything', his collaboration with Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer.

The Saturdays' scored the highest new entry at Number 8 with 'Notorious', while Templecloud's 'One Big Family' debuted at Number 24.

Katy Perry Celebrates Year In Hot 100's Top 10

Katy Perry becomes the first artist in the Billboard Hot 100's more than five-decade history to spend 52 consecutive weeks - an entire year - in the top 10.

On the chart released today (May 12) on Billboard.com (dated May 21, 2011), "E.T.," featuring Kanye West, descends to No. 2 after five weeks at the summit, granting Perry an unprecedented full year lodged in the chart's top bracket.

Perry began her streak when "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg, debuted at No. 2 on the May 29, 2010, Hot 100. The song would go on to spend six weeks at No. 1 beginning June 19, 2010.

As "Girls" logged its 12th frame in the top 10 on the Aug. 14, 2010, Hot 100, the follow-up and second single from Perry's second Capitol Records album "Teenage Dream" bounded 20-7. The song would become the set's second No. 1 on the Sept. 18 chart and reign for two weeks.

On the Nov. 20, 2010, Hot 100, "Firework" burst 29-10, just keeping Perry in the top 10, as "Dream" dropped out of the tier (12-8). "Firework" started a four-week command on the Jan. 8, 2011, survey.

When "E.T." bounded 28-8 on the March 12, 2011, Hot 100, the song joined "Firework" for the latter song's last two weeks in the top 10.

Prior to Perry, Ace of Base had held the Hot 100's uninterrupted top 10 longevity mark, linking 48 straight weeks in the top 10 with "All That She Wants," "The Sign" and "Don't Turn Around" (Oct. 16, 1993-Sept. 10, 1994). Santana ranks third with 42 consecutive frames in the upper region (1999-2000), followed by Mariah Carey (41 weeks in a row, 1995-96).

Perry's year-long residence in the Hot 100's top 10 is the latest in a long line of honors that she's achieved with "Teenage Dream." The set is only the ninth to generate four No. 1s in the list's 52-year archives; it's one of only three albums to yield a quartet of toppers on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart; and, also this week, "E.T." rewrites its own mark, established last week, for the most weekly plays (12,361, according to Nielsen BDS) for a title in the Pop Songs' survey's history.

With sales of 1,451,000 since its August 2010 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, "Dream" recently bested the sales of Perry's 2008 breakthrough album, "One of the Boys," which has sold 1,383,000.

Katy Perry & Kanye West › E.T.

I've been raving about the Benny Benassi remix for a while now, but just found out that Katy Perry's new single E.T. (now with a Kanye West version) has scored the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Really? I feel that came out of nowhere. Anyway, this is already her fourth chart-topper from her album Teenage Dream in the United States following California Gurls with Snoop Dogg, Teenage Dream and Firework. The feat has also put her in some pretty good company since it's the first album since Usher's Confessions - from 2004 - to spawn four #1 singles and the first female to do it since Mariah Carey's eponymous debut album in 1990-91. Other artists' albums that accomplished this Billboard Hot 100 milestone include Whitney Houston's Whitney, George Michael's Faith, Paula Abdul's Forever Your Girl and Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814. Way to go Ms. Perry!

Another treat? Well, the music video is already out and it's very sci-fi and very different to her previous ones, which gives it bonus points on my list. Directed by Floria Sigismondi.

Lykke Li Owns Top 2

It comes to no surprise that Lykke Li is getting ready to make a big presence in the chart now that she tops the Number 1 and Number 2 positions this week. First, with no signs of slowing down, she scores a second week at the top with I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix), but she's her own competition now that the album track Love Out Of Lust jumps, yet again as Greatest Gainer, to the #2 position in only its third week. And more Lykke Li floods the chart now that Silent My Song and Sadness Is A Blessing debut at #53 and #79 respectively. This of course has propelled Wounded Rhymes to the top of the Albums chart.

And Britney Spears also sets a high note now that her second single Till The World Ends becomes her highest ranking song so far on the chart. The title makes an incredible jump to #11 in its second week. Only her song 3 had charted higher, peaking at #18 back in 2009. But the Highest Jump belongs to The Decemberists and their song This Is Why We Fight, which storms sixty spots to #14 this week.

The Highest Debut belongs to Ke$ha this week and her track The Harold Song which makes a big impression to land at #33. This is her sixth song to chart so far. One spot higher at #34 is Power Play of the week and new entry by Brandon Flowers with his third official single Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts, which adds more momentum to his Flamingo album.

More debuts include I Need A Doctor by Dr. Dre featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey at #70, Lupe Fiasco's All Black Everything at #80 and Snoop Dogg's return to the chart with Wet at #94.

So I don't know how I missed this one since I've been playing it for weeks already. "What was I thinking?" Anyway, here's the music video to Last Night by Ian Carey, Bobby Anthony and Snoop Dogg. Who wouldn't wanna party with all those beautiful women on set?!

Last Night is currently steady at #4 in its fifth week on the chart.

'All Of The Lights' Still On Top

It's four weeks at the top now for All Of The Lights by Kanye West and still going strong now that the song has regained its bullet. It has also matched 2008's Love Lockdown for most of weeks at the top by the rapper. But right on its heels comes another Marina & The Diamonds' song to reach No. 2 and that would be Obsessions, which is Greatest Gainer for second week in a row. It's the singer's fourth shot at the top spot after I Am Not A Robot, Oh No! and Shampain also reached No. 2. Drake recently broke the spell, can she do it next?

An honorable mention goes to Linkin Park because after 13 weeks on The Chart they have finally reached the Top 10 with Waiting For The End. It has happened a few times before and it's happened again this week. Two different songs make a 56 spot leap to become Biggest Jumps on The Chart. They are Ian Carey's Last Night featuring Bobby Anthony and Snoop Dogg and Brandon Flowers' Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas, at No. 21 and No. 22 respectively.

The Highest Debut goes again to Marina & The Diamonds as The Outsider enters at No. 74 with another one of her songs, Mowgli's Road, debuting at No. 89, both songs becoming her 11th and 12th chart entries. Only her song Guilty from the album The Family Jewels has not entered The Chart so far. There's also new entries by pop star Britney Spears with Hold It Against Me as Power Play of the week and only her third chart appearance since 3 debuted in 2009, and T.I.'s Amazing featuring Pharrell Williams entering at No. 94.

3 Weeks for 'All Of The Lights'

The star-studded All Of The Lights stays at the top of The Chart for a third consecutive week. Pretty solid! In fact, I've just read somewhere that this is about to become Kanye West's official next single. Smart move. It is, after all, the most mainstream song on the album (and a #1 on my list, of course!). But some strong competition approaches now that Ellie Goulding managed to sneak in the top 3 with Animal and Marina & The Diamonds gets her fourth top 10, this time with Obsessions. The latter is Greatest Gainer I might add. Will this be the one to break her #2-peak curse?

Marina & The Diamonds also gets the Highest Debut and Power Play of the week with Rootless, her tenth song to enter the chart. The other new entries are all collaborations. Great collaborations. There's Tiësto vs. Diplo featuring Busta Rhymes coming in at No. 75 with C'mon (Catch 'Em By Surprise), Kanye West & Jay-Z's first duo single H·A·M enters at No. 76 and a first for Ian Carey alongside Bobby Anthony & Snoop Dogg as Last Night debuts at No. 77.

Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Juicy J & T-Pain › Black And Yellow (G-Mix)

I've been trying to steer away from this one but I think I might just give it a try, because Wiz Khalifa's Black And Yellow (G-Mix) with Snoop Dogg, Juicy J and T-Pain makes it more interesting. Actually, a T-Pain-less version would've been perfect. Not to mention he ruins the video with all that head-gear he's wearing, which might've worked better in the next Pirates Of The Caribbean movie... or Saw franchise.
