Katy Perry's historic fifth No. 1 on the Hot 100 from her "Teenage Dream" album makes her one of only seven artists in the history of the Hot 100 to put together a string of five or more consecutive chart-toppers, placing her in esteemed company that includes Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey.

"Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" is the fifth No. 1 in a row from Perry's "Teenage Dream" album, as Billboard.biz reported. The run began with "California Gurls" and continued with the title track, "Firework" and "E.T."

It's not as rare as collecting five No. 1s from one album, but it's still an infrequent accomplishment for any artist to have five or more consecutive singles reach the top of the Hot 100. Elvis Presley did it with "A Big Hunk o' Love," "Stuck on You," "It's Now or Never," "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" and "Surrender," between 1959-1961. The first group to rack up five No. 1s in a row on the Hot 100 was the Supremes. In 1964-65, the Motown trio scored with "Where Did Our Love Go," "Baby Love," "Come See About Me," "Stop! In the Name of Love" and "Back in My Arms Again."

The Beatles had six consecutive No. 1s between 1964-1966 with "I Feel Fine," "Eight Days a Week," "Ticket to Ride," "Help!," "Yesterday" and "We Can Work It Out" although, like Presley, all of those singles had flip sides that either charted on the main Hot 100 or the Bubbling Under tally.

In 1977, the Bee Gees also started a run of six consecutive No. 1s that ran through 1979, starting with three titles from the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack: "How Deep Is Your Love," "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever." This trio was followed directly by another hat trick of No. 1s: "Too Much Heaven," "Tragedy" and "Love You Inside Out," all from the "Spirits Having Flown" LP.

Whitney Houston's second Arista single, "Saving All My Love for You," started a run of seven consecutive No. 1s for her that ran from 1985-1988 and included "How Will I Know," "Greatest Love of All," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)," "Didn't We Almost Have It All," "So Emotional" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go." This accomplishment requires an asterisk, as Arista released a single, "Thinking About You" between "Saving All My Love for You" and "How Will I Know," but it was only promoted to R&B radio, not pop radio. It peaked at No. 10 on Billboard's R&B singles chart and never appeared on the Hot 100.

As previously reported, Michael Jackson is the only other artist to have five No. 1s on the Hot 100 from one album. In 1987-88, Jackson had five consecutive chart-toppers from "Bad": "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Man in the Mirror" and "Dirty Diana."

Mariah Carey made her Hot 100 debut in June 1990 with "Vision of Love," which was the first of five No. 1s in a row, including "Love Takes Time," "Someday," "I Don't Wanna Cry" and "Emotions." She had another run of five No. 1s from 1995 to 1998 with "Fantasy," "One Sweet Day," "Always Be My Baby," "Honey" and "My All." Carey's first run of five No. 1s in a row carries an additional unique distinction: they were her first five titles to chart on the Hot 100.

"Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" is the 53rd No. 1 single on the Capitol label in the 53-year history of the Hot 100 and the sixth No. 1 on the Hollywood-based label for Perry, more than any other Capitol act has accumulated except for the Beatles (with 13).

Perry has amassed her six No. 1s in three years and one week, counting back to July 5, 2008, the date on the chart when "I Kissed a Girl" moved into first place. "I Kissed a Girl" was Perry's only chart-topper from her first Capitol album, "One of the Boys."

In an attempt to give Katy Perry that final push to #1 in the US Charts, because that's what this is all about, here comes the remix to her latest hit Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) featuring none other than Missy Elliott. Don't get me wrong, I've had my share of Missy addiction, and I was excited to find out she'd be back on the music spotlight, but this, like many other remixes as of late don't add anything new that's worthy of recognition. Or maybe I'm just biased because I'm not a big fan of this single anyway. We'll see what this one does for both artists.

After an edited version of Katy Perry's new video found it's way onto the internet earlier than expected, the full version has already been posted on the Funny Or Die website, where it was originally intended to be released next Tuesday. This full version runs at 8 minutes and 10 seconds and features guest cameos by Kenny G, Hanson, Debbie Gibson, Kevin McHale, Darren Criss and Ms. Rebecca Black (yes, the 'Friday' girl).

Katy Perry Celebrates Year In Hot 100's Top 10

Katy Perry becomes the first artist in the Billboard Hot 100's more than five-decade history to spend 52 consecutive weeks - an entire year - in the top 10.

On the chart released today (May 12) on Billboard.com (dated May 21, 2011), "E.T.," featuring Kanye West, descends to No. 2 after five weeks at the summit, granting Perry an unprecedented full year lodged in the chart's top bracket.

Perry began her streak when "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg, debuted at No. 2 on the May 29, 2010, Hot 100. The song would go on to spend six weeks at No. 1 beginning June 19, 2010.

As "Girls" logged its 12th frame in the top 10 on the Aug. 14, 2010, Hot 100, the follow-up and second single from Perry's second Capitol Records album "Teenage Dream" bounded 20-7. The song would become the set's second No. 1 on the Sept. 18 chart and reign for two weeks.

On the Nov. 20, 2010, Hot 100, "Firework" burst 29-10, just keeping Perry in the top 10, as "Dream" dropped out of the tier (12-8). "Firework" started a four-week command on the Jan. 8, 2011, survey.

When "E.T." bounded 28-8 on the March 12, 2011, Hot 100, the song joined "Firework" for the latter song's last two weeks in the top 10.

Prior to Perry, Ace of Base had held the Hot 100's uninterrupted top 10 longevity mark, linking 48 straight weeks in the top 10 with "All That She Wants," "The Sign" and "Don't Turn Around" (Oct. 16, 1993-Sept. 10, 1994). Santana ranks third with 42 consecutive frames in the upper region (1999-2000), followed by Mariah Carey (41 weeks in a row, 1995-96).

Perry's year-long residence in the Hot 100's top 10 is the latest in a long line of honors that she's achieved with "Teenage Dream." The set is only the ninth to generate four No. 1s in the list's 52-year archives; it's one of only three albums to yield a quartet of toppers on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart; and, also this week, "E.T." rewrites its own mark, established last week, for the most weekly plays (12,361, according to Nielsen BDS) for a title in the Pop Songs' survey's history.

With sales of 1,451,000 since its August 2010 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, "Dream" recently bested the sales of Perry's 2008 breakthrough album, "One of the Boys," which has sold 1,383,000.

I've been raving about the Benny Benassi remix for a while now, but just found out that Katy Perry's new single E.T. (now with a Kanye West version) has scored the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Really? I feel that came out of nowhere. Anyway, this is already her fourth chart-topper from her album Teenage Dream in the United States following California Gurls with Snoop Dogg, Teenage Dream and Firework. The feat has also put her in some pretty good company since it's the first album since Usher's Confessions - from 2004 - to spawn four #1 singles and the first female to do it since Mariah Carey's eponymous debut album in 1990-91. Other artists' albums that accomplished this Billboard Hot 100 milestone include Whitney Houston's Whitney, George Michael's Faith, Paula Abdul's Forever Your Girl and Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814. Way to go Ms. Perry!

Another treat? Well, the music video is already out and it's very sci-fi and very different to her previous ones, which gives it bonus points on my list. Directed by Floria Sigismondi.

In an attempt to extend the huge success that Teenage Dream turned out to be for Katy Perry here's the fourth official single from that album titled E.T., only this time it has been spiced up by Kanye West dropping a couple of rap verses. I'm not really sure it does the trick 'cause I'd rather listen to the original, or in any case I'll always prefer the amazing Benny Benassi Remix which - if you've been following the chart you'd know - has been making the biggest impact. The Rescues › Teenage Dream (Live Cover)

You know a song is good when everybody starts doing their own rendition. I can't say much about The Rescues except for the fact that they're an American pop/rock band, but what I can tell you is that they've decided to cover Katy Perry's recent hit Teenage Dream. Is it good? Well.. it's a very stripped down version of the song which is not a compliment considering that at some point I was expecting to hear the guitar and bass riffs from the original. And aside from the over-the-top harmonizing, you could say it's "Just Ok", meaning, it's certainly not better than the original but it's worth a couple of listens.

We watched the trailer a few days ago and immediately knew this was going to have a big message. Something you can consider really odd for a music video in the year 2010. But Katy Perry's video for Firework has now been released and it lives up to its expectation. As a follow-up to the huge Teenage Dream, this one has been struggling to get on the chart, but it's probably going to get a big boost now. Firework is the third single from her album Teenage Dream.

I just found one for Katy Perry's new single Firework, the third one from her recently released album Teenage Dream. I was not hyped up about it, but the 30-second teaser shows what could be a very energetic and empowering message behind the song.
