TMJ Charts: Walk The Moon at #1

Good going for WALK THE MOON this week as the band scores its 4th consecutive week at #1 with Tightrope on the Songs chart and a 2nd week at #1 on the Albums chart with their self-titled release. It is though the first week the song has decreased in points so we'll see now how much longer they can hold on to the top spot. For now, they move ahead as the longest running #1 song of the year.


Swedish House Mafia makes small steps towards the top with Don't You Worry Child featuring John Martin as it remains steady at #2. They also hold the #1 song on the Recurrent Songs chart once again this week with Miami 2 Ibiza. Another contender for top song is the group OneRepublic which scores the Greatest Gainer song of the week with the new single If I Lose Myself as it makes a leap to #4. Paul Banks gets a new peak with Young Again going to #9, while Ra Ra Riot makes a long awaited return to the Top 10 as Beta Love moves seven to #10. Deftones move ahead four spots to #14 with Tempest, YesYou go Top 20 as Frivolous Life jumps to #17, Madness by Muse leaps five to #21, and Alt-J goes to #29 with Breezeblocks. The Biggest Jump of the week belongs to Chet Faker's formidable cover of Blackstreet's No Diggity as it moves 44 spots to #42.

There are six debuts this week starting with Paramore's return to the chart via their new single Now at #67, followed by another chart return by Fall Out Boy with My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) entering at #79. James Blake makes a chart debut with Retrograde at #80, Kimbra scores the #92 spot with the Mark Foster and A-Track assisted Warrior, Passenger's Let Her Go enters at #94, and A$AP Rocky gets his first chart entry with Fuckin' Problems at #96.

I know this one has been out for a while, but it wasn't until recently that I got hooked on Good Life by OneRepublic. The current version with B.o.B is charting high at #7 this week and with chances of enjoying a long stay. It might sound crazy, but this song is included in the band's album Waking Up, which was released in November of 2009. Talk about longevity!

Natasha is no stranger to the chart and this one should have no trouble mixing in with the currents. Her biggest songs so far include Pocketful Of Sunshine (No. 14), These Words (No. 2) and Unwritten (No. 15), to name a few.

5 weeks for 'Teenage Dream' but Usher closely follows

It's week number 5 for Katy Perry and her song Teenage Dream, which not only regains its bullet but also goes Gold after surpassing 500 points. But close behind are Usher and Jay-Z with Hot Tottie which is the Greatest Gainer track for a second week in a row. Will this be the song to break Perry's reign?

Interpol gets 3 spots in the top 10 this week as All Of The Ways and The Undoing both enter at #6 and #7 respectively, while Lights stays at #3. Jason Derülo inches up two spots with Ridin' Solo (#4) and La Vida Bohème returns to their #9 peak with Danz!.

The Chart retuns and Katy Perry still leads

Now that the break's over it's time to get back to business. And it's not like things have changed much, actually. At least not for Katy Perry and her Teenage Dream, which stays strong at #1 for a fourth week. This would've been her seventh week at the top if I had published all the September charts, but that didn't happen. Still not a bad lead for a female on what's been a male dominated year. The last female singer to top the chart was Ke$ha with the song Tik Tok which started a 3-week dominance at the end of January.
