Incubus Ascends

No surprise here, but let's point out the fact that just three weeks is what it took for Incubus' comeback single to top the songs chart! Adolescents is not only this band's 17th chart entry but it becomes their 4th chart-topper, following Dig, Oil And Water and Quicksand, all taken from their 2007 release Light Grenades. Black Heart Inertia was their last chart appearance, which debuted in May of 2009 and peaked at #11.

Foo Fighters is now down one spot but still strong with a bullet for Bridge Burning and Lykke Li's Silent My Song rounds the Top 3.

This week's Greatest Gainer belongs to The Script, a band that scored several hits from their self-titled album the last couple of years but has struggled a little with Science & Faith, their sophomore record. That's all about to change now that Dead Man Walking becomes their 5th Top 10 hit entering at #8 in it's second week; and there's more because Long Gone And Moved On is the Biggest Jump with a leap to #54 from last week's #92.

The Power Play track and Highest Debut of the week goes to the Beastie Boys and their single Make Some Noise, entering at #76 as their first track ever to chart. More new entries from Lupe Fiasco's unreleased version of Airplanes, originally made famous by B.o.B and also featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams, coming at #90; Gossip's Beth Ditto solo adventure pays off and now sees her chart debut with I Wrote The Book at #91; Placebo makes a surprise debut with a live version of Bright Lights at #98; Brandon Boyd's Revenge Of The Spectral Tiger comes in at #99 and The Black Eyed Peas earn their 23rd chart entry with The Best One Yet (The Boy) at #100.

TMJ's Weekly Chart: Why are you obsessed with her?

Mariah Carey scores a personal best this week as "Obsessed" tops the chart for a 7th consecutive week surpassing her previous hit "Touch My Body" which held the top spot for 6 straight weeks. There isn't new songs entering the top 10 and there's little movement except for Drake with "Best I Ever Had" which moves up 5 spots to land at #4.

There isn't too many songs making big jumps this week either. The biggest is "Speak In Tongues" by Placebo which moves up 41 places to become the only song to enter the Top 50 this week. Other notable moves by The Script who make a big rebound with "Before The Worst" and David Guetta with "Sexy Bitch (Feat. Akon)" which moves up to #11 in its 3rd week.

Madonna returns to the chart and snatches the highest debut with "Celebration" which lands at #69. Other debuts include the Benny Benassi remix of "I Will Be Here" by Tiësto & Sneaky Sound System and new songs from David Guetta and Kings Of Leon.

A couple remixes retire from the main chart: The Armin van Buuren remix of "Human" by The Killers and the Dave Audé remix of "God In Me" by Mary Mary.

On the recurrent chart, Blackstreet keeps the crown for a second week with their 1996 hit "No Diggity (Feat. Dr. Dre)."

TMJ's Weekly Chart: Big re-entry by Kings Of Leon

It's week number 6 for Mariah Carey as she sits at the top once again with "Obsessed," matching the success she had last year when "Touch My Body" also spent six weeks at #1. It seems like "Obsessed" is on its way to become her longest stay at the top of the chart so far. But the competition is starting to catch up as Sharam moves up a spot with "She Came Along (Feat. Kid Cudi)," trading places with last week's runner-up "The One (Feat. Drake)" by Mary J. Blige which backs down to #3. Bigger news for Drake's solo single which is not only the biggest gainer of the week but also moves up four places to land inside the Top 10 with "Best I Ever Had," (#9).

Three new tracks, "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas and "The World We Live In" by The Killers, enter the Top 20. The third song to make it also stands out as the biggest news this week and is the hot shot re-entry of "Notion" by Kings Of Leon which lands directly at #19 after making a one-week appearance back in October of last year. This is the band's 10th top 20 hit on the chart and, even though I'm not keeping the stats, it's certainly one of the biggest song re-entries so far (that I can remember).

The highest debut goes to the mega-collaboration track "Run This Town" by Jay-Z, Kanye West and Rihanna. New entries also for Jesse McCartney ("How Do You Sleep? (Feat. Ludacris)"), Metallica ("All Nightmare Long"), Depeche Mode ("Peace"), Snow Patrol ("The Planets Between Us") and Pearl Jam ("Brother"), all within the 90-100 range.

The biggest jump title is "Gimme Sympathy" by Metric, which after almost falling off the chart rebounds to #72. Big jumps also for Placebo ("Kitty Litter") and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs ("Heads Will Roll").

Two more songs fall into retirement this week: former #1 song "Swing Ya Rag (Feat. Swizz Beatz)" by T.I. and one of the longest-running songs on the chart "Heat" by Mariah Carey.

It's 90's throwback at the recurrent chart as Blackstreet shoots right up to the top with one of the biggest pop and R&B hits to-date: "No Diggity (Feat. Dr. Dre)," from the 1996 release Another Level.

TMJ's Weekly Chart: Mariah gets a 5th

It's 5th week at #1 for Mariah Carey as "Obsessed" doesn't seem to go anywhere any time soon. Runner-up Mary J. Blige is making her way up with "The One (Feat. Drake)" and Sharam gets the greatest point gain for second week in a row as "She Came Along (Feat. Kid Cudi)" jumps to #3 this week. Kings Of Leon round up the top 5 as "Frontier City" moves up a spot to a new peak and "Closer" falls 3 after 43 weeks on the chart.

Big jumps for "Kings Of Medicine" by Placebo and "Crazi" by Sharam. Yeah Yeah Yeahs ("Heads Will Rolls") and The-Dream ("Can't Wait To Hate You") also make big jumps to land in the top 50 this week. Drake came short of being the biggest jump but it's good enough as "Best I Ever Had" leaps to #13. On the other hand, the biggest jump of the week is Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad (Feat. Leighton Meester)" but the song is still lingering in the lower half of the chart.

Two hot shot debuts within the top 50 as David Guetta leads with "Sexy Bitch (Feat. Akon)", probably his first song to really catch my attention since "The World Is Mine" came out a few years ago. Mariah Carey follows with the Jump Smokers Remix to "Obsessed". Jump Smokers' other appearance on the chart is their "Jump" remix by Flo Rida featuring Nelly Furtado. Some more new tracks from Placebo's new album Battle For The Sun and Bloc Party returns with "One More Chance" remixed by Alex Metric.

We Are Scientists rule the recurrent chart for a third consecutive week with "What's The Word". I'm thinking this should have been #1 when it made its rounds on the main chart.
