The Weekly TMJ Charts - March 1, 2014

It looks like Vance Joy will not be leaving the top of the charts any time soon as he collects a 4th week at #1 with Riptide. But nothing's written in stone as there's close competition with Left Alone by Flume and Chet Faker returning to its #2 peak after charting for 18 weeks and Cardiac Arrest by Bad Suns being the Greatest Gainer track of week with a jump from #19 to #7. Foster The People also enters the race to the top with Coming Of Age moving up 4 to #8.

The week's highlight in the Songs Chart is also the Highest New entry. Young The Giant makes a strong debut at #14 with Anagram, personally, the best song off their recent release Mind Over Matter. A second album track from the band, Firelight, also enters the chart at #84. Other debuts include Bridges by Broods at #82, Home By Now by Bombay Bicycle Club at #98, Blue Moon by Beck at #99, and Can You Do This by Aloe Blacc at #100.

Young The Giant - Anagram
The Highest Jump of the week belongs to London Grammar whose track Strong moves up 27 spots to #47, while the Power Play track of the week goes to Instant Crush by Daft Punk featuring Julian Casablancas, re-entering to a new peak at #58.

Kanye & Co. Reign For A 2nd Week

In fact, there's no movement for this week's Top 3 songs with Kanye West leading for a second week with All Of The Lights. Drake stays at No. 2 with Unforgettable and Cee Lo Green remains at No. 3 with Bright Lights Bigger City.

Four new entries to the Top 10 and one return shake things up a bit at the higher end of the chart with the Kanye West / John Legend Blame Game collaboration landing at No. 5 as Greatest Gainer of the week, Kid Cudi's Marijuana jumps to No. 6, Ellie Goulding storms up to No. 8 with Animal and Daft Punk's Tron: Legacy lead track, Derezzed, bows at No. 10. The return belongs to Kanye West Lost In The World collaboration with Bon Iver.

Obsessions by Marina & The Diamonds is determined to go very high on the chart as it scores the Power Play of the week for a second time and is also the Highest Jump, breaking the Top 50 and landing at the No. 43 position. Only two - rather weak - debuts mark this week's new entries, led by Katy Perry's Not Like The Movies at No. 93 and N*E*R*D's It's In The Air at No. 96.

Drake Holds On For A Third Week

The first chart of 2011 brings no change, for the No. 1 spot at least, as Drake manages to stay on top for a third consecutive week with Unforgettable. But things seem to be changing next week as Kanye West fast approaches to No. 2 as Greatest Gainer with All Of The Lights.

Daft Punk gets a boost as Derezzed gets the biggest jump to land at No. 28 this week. Ellie Goulding's also starts the year with a bang as her first song to enter the chart, Animal, is both the Highest Debut and Power Play of the week. T.I. gets in on the action with three debuting tracks and Ke$ha scores another one with Blow entering at No. 96.

New Daft Punk Track Featured in Tron Trailer

A new track from Daft Punk's soundtrack album to Tron: Legacy has been made available through a new trailer from the movie. The song title is Derezzed and should be available on the album release this next December 7th. The movie itself looks unbelievable as well, but I'm thinking it's gonna be either out-of-this-world amazing or a complete waste of time and money, as has been the case with many other 80s classics.

New Daft Punk in November

This is fantastic news! Daft Punk has finally announced that their new material will hit stores in November. The new release will actually be a contribution to the Tron: Legacy soundtrack and is going to be released as a physical Audio CD and as a HQ digital download.

It's been a long wait for fans of the electronic French duo, considering their last release, Human After All, came out in 2005.
