Nine weeks have passed since the band Friendly Fires claimed the #1 spot of the Top Songs chart with Hawaiian Air, and with no signs of slowing down and a respectable lead, they still have the chance to go for ten or even more. And with only nine more weeks left to end the year, it's almost certain that the song will get crowned as the year's longest running number one song. That is, at least a tie if by chance there's a new #1 next week that matches Hawaiian Air's stay at the top.
Chart Fact: Hawaiian Air joins a short but elite list of 9'ers, starting with Ne-Yo's So Sick from 2006, Gym Class Heroes' Viva La White Girl from 2007 and Mariah Carey's Obsessed from 2009. Only three more songs have had stays at the top in the double digits. This one could be next.
In more Top Songs news, Friendly Fires gets another mention with Live Those Days Tonight giving them a second top 10 by jumping to #7 this week. Florence + The Machine falls two to #4 and gives way to Young The Giant and Foster The People for new peaks at #2 and #3, respectively, while Blink-182 rounds the top 5 with Fighting The Gravity. Mylo Xyloto's release boosts Coldplay's Paradise and is the week's Greatest Gainer track at #12. More Blink-182 songs make their way into the chart with This Is Home leading as Highest Debut at #70 while The Walk by Mayer Hawthorne gives the singer his first chart entry at #96. Another Friendly Fires song, Blue Cassette, enters at #100. Britney Spears is the week's Power Play track as Criminal re-enters the chart at #84.
On albums, Pala by Friendly Fires extends its stay at the top counting now 7 weeks at #1, while the Highest Debut goes to Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto at #6. A new song tops the Recurrent Songs chart with One (Your Name) by Swedish House Mafia and Pharrell jumps 7 spots as Greatest Gainer; La Vida Bohème's Danz! sees a boost jumping 39 spots to #6 and Plan B by Freebass is the Highest New Entry at #17. The Shared Top 50 chart has Adele once again at #1 with Someone Like You for a total of 6 weeks at the top and Beyoncé gets Highest Debut honors with Love On Top at #12. There's also new entries in this chart starting with Friendly Fires' Show Me Lights at #34, Kelly Rowland and Big Sean at #35 with Lay It On Me and Rihanna with Calvin Harris at #36 with We Found Love.
