TMJ Charts: Gotye Still #1, Santigold's Big Debut

Two main things are happening this week on the charts. First of all, Gotye manages to stay at the top of the Songs countdown for a seventh consecutive week with the Kimbra-assisted Somebody That I Used To Know, extending it's lead as the biggest song of the year so far. But things get complicated now that we have a huge debut from Santigold, whose Disparate Youth shots all the way up to the #2 spot. So with more evident competition now, Gotye's chances to stay at the top have gone from big to slim.

Santigold's debut is huge in many ways because it's the fifth song ever to debut at the runner-up position after The-Dream and Mariah Carey's My Love (2009), Sean Garrett and Ludacris' Grippin' (2008), Hellogoodbye's Here (In Your Arms) (2007) and Natasha Bedingfield's These Words (2004). It's also Santigold's best charting song after I'm A Lady peaked at #5 in 2008, and with that, it's most likely going to become her first #1 song on the charts in the upcoming weeks.

Further down the chart there's no giving up on Adele as she hangs at #3 with Someone Like You while Flo Rida and Sia return to the Top Ten with Wild Ones jumping to #8. Wilco is about to go big on the charts now that Born Alone is both the biggest jump and power play with a huge leap to #39 this week. They've already outdone themselves after their first chart entry, Walken (2007), peaked at #59. New entries this week include Nicki Minaj with Starships at #88 followed by Katy Perry's Part Of Me at #89.

Adele keeps reigning more charts as her hit Rolling In The Deep stays at #1 of the Recurrent Charts for an eighth week while her album 21 climbs back up again to the #1 position for a total of 10 weeks at the top.

Jessie J Tops UK Songs Chart

If anything, I'm just glad she's gone to the top with this Price Tag song because I happen to like it a lot more than her previous single. By the way, I just realized today it sounds like the type of song Natasha Bedingfield would sing. Maybe that's what it is.

From NME.com:
Jessie J has scored her first UK Number One single tonight (February 6).

The Brits Critics' Choice Award and BBC Sound Of 2011 poll-winner hit the top spot with her second single 'Price Tag' after holding off competition from Bruno Mars' 'Grenade', which stayed at Number 2.

The Essex singer's debut single 'Do It Like A Dude' peaked at Number Two last month - and is still in the chart at Number 7 this week.

Other singles chart new entries included Enrique Iglesias at Number 5 with 'Tonight (I'm Fuckin' You)' and Taio Cruz featuring Kylie Minogue and Travie McCoy at Number 8 with 'Higher'.

In the albums chart, Adele held onto the top spot for a second week with '21', while Chase & Status' second album 'No More Idols' went in at Number 2.

The Top Ten UK singles are:

1. Jessie J - 'Price Tag'
2. Bruno Mars - 'Grenade'
3. Ke$ha - 'We R Who We R'
4. Adele - 'Rolling In The Deep'
5. Enrique Iglesias feat. Ludacris - 'Tonight (I'm Fuckin' You)'
6. Diddy Dirty Money - 'Coming Home'
7. Jessie J - 'Do It Like A Dude'
8. Taio Cruz feat. Kylie Minogue & Travie McCoy - 'Higher'
9. Chris Brown - 'Yeah 3X'
10. Chase & Status feat. Liam Bailey - 'Blind Faith'

The Top Ten UK albums are:

1. Adele - '21'

4. Adele - '19'
5. Rihanna - 'Loud'
6. Eva Cassidy - 'Simply Eva'

Natasha Bedingfield › Strip Me

Check out the latest single from British pop singer Natasha Bedingfield. Strip Me is written and produced by OneRepublic's lead singer Ryan Tedder and will be included in her upcoming album by the same title, expected to be released during the first week of December. Natasha is no stranger to the chart and this one should have no trouble mixing in with the currents. Her biggest songs so far include Pocketful Of Sunshine (No. 14), These Words (No. 2) and Unwritten (No. 15), to name a few.

Lil Wayne Continues Hot 100 Dominance

With his new album "Tha Carter III" poised to debut next week at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, Lil Wayne begins a fifth week atop the Hot 100 with "Lollipop" featuring Static Major. Five songs from "Tha Carter III" are on this week's tally, and Wayne also appears as a guest on charting tracks from Usher and Lloyd.

Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" inches up 3-2, another high water mark for the U.K. band. Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" drops 2-3, while Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" and Rihanna's "Take a Bow" trade places at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.

The songs at positions 6-8 -- Usher's "Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy, Jordin Sparks' "No Air" featuring Chris Brown and Ray J & Yung Berg's "Sexy Can I" -- all stand pat. Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine" jumps 11-9 and Madonna's "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake holds at No. 10.

The Pussycat Dolls' "When I Grow Up" is the chart's greatest digital gainer, its 34,000 downloads spurring a 76-31 jump. Young Jeezy has the top debut with "Put On" featuring Kanye West, which opens at No. 36. The rapper's next Def Jam album, "The Recession," is due in August.

On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Keyshia Cole's "Heaven Sent" dethrones Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" after a six-week reign. "Heaven," which jumps 3-1, gives Cole her third chart-topper from her "Just Like You" album.

Carrie Underwood also achieves her third No. 1 from a single album ("Carnival Ride"), as "Last Name" climbs 5-1 on Hot Country Songs. It's Underwood's sixth chart-topper here overall.

There's no change at the top of Billboard's rock charts; Weezer is No. 1 on Modern Rock with "Pork & Beans" for a sixth week, and Disturbed's "Inside the Fire" tops Mainstream Rock for a sixth as well.

Lil Wayne's 'Lollipop' Returns To Hot 100 Peak

After a three-week break, Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" featuring Static Major returns to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. It's the longest chart-topping hiatus since Usher's "U Got It Bad" went four weeks between No. 1 stints in January 2002.

Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" is No. 2 for a second week, while last week's chart-topper, Rihanna's "Take a Bow," slips 3-1 despite being the fastest-growing track at radio. Usher's "Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy rises 5-4, trading places with Jordin Sparks' "No Air" featuring Chris Brown.

Ray J & Yung Berg's "Sexy Can I" holds at No. 6, and Madonna's "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake remains No. 7. Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine" rises 9-8, trading places with Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body." Danity Kane's "Damaged" holds at No. 10 to round out the top tier.

Another new Usher song, "Love in This Club, Part II," soars 63-18 in its fourth week, thanks to digital sales of 44,000.

The Hot 100's greatest digital gainer is Duffy's "Mercy," which sold 59,000 downloads en route to a 66-27 climb. The U.K. artist's debut Mercury album, "Rockferry," debuted yesterday at No. 4 on The Billboard 200.

The week's top debut comes from the reunited New Kids On The Block with "Summertime" at No. 57. The song shifted 39,000 downloads and is off to a strong start at top 40 radio, moving 40-35 this week on the Pop 100 Airplay tally.

Also new this week are Kate Voegele's "Hallelujah" at No. 66, Three 6 Mafia's "Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body)" at No. 79 and Jason Mraz's "Lucky" featuring Colbie Caillat at No. 82.

Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" is No. 1 for a fourth week on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, where Kanye West's "Homecoming" featuring Chris Martin is the top new entry at No. 68.

Brad Paisley's "I'm Still a Guy" moves 2-1 to overtake Hot Country Songs, his fourth chart-topper from the album "5th Gear."

On Billboard's rock chart, Weezer is No. 1 on Modern Rock with "Pork & Beans" for a third week, and Disturbed's "Inside the Fire" tops Mainstream Rock for a third. The Cure has the top debut on Modern Rock with "The Only One" at No. 35.
